Blue Anti-Paddles unweighted

Color:

Other Weights:

NOTE: each paddle is made just for you with TLC, so please allow approximately one to two weeks for arrival.

FEATURES:

  • Length (from front tip to back): 6.75"
  • Width: 3"
  • Thickness:2"
  • Textured Hand Surface: provides a secure, non-slip grip
  • Multiple Finger Strap Options
  • Durable and Visually Stunning: tough enough for daily training but pretty enough to be decoration

WHY ANTI-PADDLES?

1. Improves mechanics

  • forces you to engage your forearm in the catch so you learn to use more surface area (ie more power) to pull

2. Reduces over-reliance on shoulders by recruiting core, lats, and legs

  • forces core engagement and stronger kick to maintain high body position on the water, because you no longer have easy momentum from pulling

3. Increases Awareness and Swim IQ

  • forces freestylers onto a better pulling path (a lot of people sweep left or right instead of staying on a straight line)
  • reduces tactile feedback, making you more sensitive to water pressure and flow
  • builds proprioception and feel for the water
  • working for a higher body position makes you more aware of the problems with low body position

WHY WEIGHTED ANTI-PADDLES?

1. Multiplies the benefits of unweighted anti-paddles

  • weight requires more stabilization of the arm and greater recruitment of muscle fibers to engage an early, powerful catch
  • added weight means downward pressure on the body which in turn requires more core and more kick
  • a heavier object in motion pulling along the wrong path requires more focus and effort to adjust back onto the right path

2. POWER & EXPLOSIVENESS

  • when used in short bursts, the added load increases resistance, which enhances the development of explosive pull mechanics by recruiting more muscle fibers and reinforcing high-intent movement patterns

HOW TO USE?

  • short distances- no more than 25s and 50s
  • mixed with non-anti-paddle work (eg 25 yards with anti-paddle then 2x25 no anti-paddle)
  • drilling, sculling, kicking, short sprints

WHICH WEIGHT IS RIGHT FOR ME?

  • Unweighted: novice, young club swimmer
  • 0.75lbs: high school and teeange club swimmer
  • 1.0lb: advanced, elite, fully developed swimmer

HOW DO YOU GET THE TUBING THRU THE HOLES?

Cut a very long needle point (~1.5") at the end of the tubing. Be carefull not to pull too hard on the tip as the thinner, cut-open tubing can tear. Alternatively, tie thin string like dental floss around one end and pull through.
